Do you imagine your story in the past, future, parallel timeline, or different reality? -Annike Huda

This is a very interesting question. The Dreamer takes place on a planet named Galtimer. Once I decided on its characteristics, I spent more time than I’d like to admit researching real planets that match. I changed some things in the story to fit and I would love to find that there’s a planet a future reader may point to and wonder “What if…?”
I’d like to think that The Dreamer is taking place in the present in a universe parallel to our own. When world-building, I imagined how our world would be affected if magic were real. What would life be like if a few people could use magic? What would Star Wars be like if twice as many people were force-sensitive? How would society progress if magic was a factor in the industrial revolution or renaissance? What safety measures would be taken? How would caste systems adapt? How would religions cope? If Galtimer and Earth were the same age, would technology be more or less advanced?
The Dreamer Book Series takes place on a planet quite similar to ours, however, one small factor changed everything. Because of it, humans and animals in some areas have had to live in a world where the will and words bend and suspend the laws of physics. Modern conveniences like elevators and street lamps are powered through magical spells in some cities. Logs burn with perpetual flames and wounded are healed beneath bare glowing hands rather than gloved ones.
Unlike on Earth, the people of Galtimer were around for the latest extinction-level event. Ages have come and gone and most know nothing of the fate of their ancestors. Had it not been for that world-changing catastrophe, I’m sure their technology would be beyond ours, a seamless blend of magic and machinery. If the truth isn’t uncovered about the past, they may be doomed to repeat it.
If you had the power to cast a spell that would make your life better/easier, what would it be? Would you tell anyone about it? Why? I wanna know!

I think I'd like to be able to cast protection spells. The amount of sleep I lose worrying about my loved ones being in any type of danger is exhausting! 😴
The thought of magic and casting spells is exciting. But if in this world I am the only one casting spells that I know of. I wouldn't tell anyone.
I would love to cast a spell that helps me absorb knowledge at an insane rate. I haven't finished college bc of how daunting that 3 1/2 years I have ahead of me is. If I could teach myself everything quickly and test out, my life would be sooo easy! I wouldn't tell anyone either (except my husband). I'd let them think I'm some kind of genius 😁
I would so cast a spell to clean my house and yard work. There is just not enough time in the day. I would enjoy doing so many other things and freeing up time to help others. I would share with only the people I could truly trust. -42
