Sage, Son of Thaddeus is the heart of this group of young adventurers. Throughout their lives, this young priest somehow manages to fan their flames when they need a boost and reel them in if they get too close to the edge. In The Dreamer Series, his prophecies may push the story, but his personality is the glue that keeps the team together… the problem is that because he is the humble type and the kindest of the crew, the characters of his two best friends will brightly outshine him in the eyes of most readers.
Without spoilers, I’ll use Sage’s Enneagram test results to give an idea of his personality. Once again, it’s time to see how the questions on these online quizzes categorize one of my characters… and once again, I’m pretty happy with how close the results match his personality! If you haven’t, I highly suggest you try one of these quizzes!
What is Sage?
1 wing 9
The Optimist
The Idealist
Like his best friends, LaTao and Kain, Sage’s goal is quite ambitious. The difference is that aspirations of grandeur fuel their ambitions. Sage, however, is driven by his own sense of moral duty. He seeks to widen his horizons and experience so as to better be the moral compass for his future king. He’s rational, calm, and careful with his hefty vocabulary. Usually, he is good at convincing his friends to do what is right… usually.
Sage is calm, and though he wishes to defend the rights of others, he prefers doing so without violence. He seeks to live a life as one to strive toward, to be the beacon one steers toward. He acknowledges that this is an optimistic and difficult goal, but feels it is the right thing to do. When his guard is down, he’s quite sarcastic, despite being so naive that others' sarcasm will go over his head.
Like myself, Sage is both naturally introverted and people-oriented. So long as the subject is something that he loves, IE: The Divine, he can command an audience with ease. He can give sermons, and lectures, and lead in prayers as if he’s been doing so for decades. Even so, he can spend weeks or months locked up in his home as a scribe, hand printing pages of The Chosen Scrolls without feeling the need for any human contact beyond his few best friends.
Sage’s biggest fear is corruption. He seeks The Divine Path and pushes others to do the same. He seeks to help lead the country to be more in line with the will of The Divine and, when given a chance, counsels all to do what is right in accordance with The Chosen Scrolls. Though he knows LaTao is an atheist and isn’t sure how devoted Kain is, he sees them both as good and attributes their better qualities to The Divine. Because of this, he has hope and is optimistic that all people can be led to be good. To Sage, nobody is a lost cause. Even the most vicious killer is one good talk away from being a good citizen. Because of these things, the people see Sage as the pinnacle of kindness and love. They love and respect him, knowing his love is genuine, and believe that when he says “You can do it!” he means it.
One of the reasons Sage (1) and LaTao (8) mesh so well is their strong concern for truth and justice. They both see themselves as champions, fighting for the weak, the small, and the innocent. They see the strength in each other’s resolve and admire each other’s willpower. As for his connection with Kain (3), the two tend to respect one another’s high standards and work ethic. Sure, they may apply themselves in different fields, but seeing each other push themselves so hard is inspiring. They mutually give each other space and work together smoothly by dividing tasks by expertise. The trio works perfectly and smoothly, with the positives playing together like cogs on an adventuring machine. So long as Sage is with them, he’ll keep them from getting corrupted or straying from their paths. At the same time, they’ll keep him from being a shut-in, reeking of musty tomes.

I had Sage all wrong. I truly thought he was a 2.
