Letter to my Future Fans

In my search for an agent, I've clicked on and probably perused 100 or more pages made by authors and agents. As I investigate literary agencies for the perfect match, I occasionally check out the pages of my fellow writers. On occasion, I think, "Heck... might as well check out their blog and newsletters." In doing so, I found a recurring theme...

A majority of them start off strong, then fade.

The first months show their hunger and gusto... as expected... and then their blog posts and news updates become less frequent. I get it. Same for me. If one isn't a big-time blogger, there really isn't any money in it. If one isn't already somewhat famous and guaranteed likes, reposts, and interaction, it's hard to press on. With no money or interactions as an incentive, one can easily lose motivation. I feel that... I feel that BIG time. From November 2021 until April 2022, I posted a weekly update just about every week! When I noticed people weren't checking them out, I decided to only update when something major happens... but that's just when it comes to the updates. The blogs are a different story.

What has been fueling me to keep blogging?

My future fans. Call it vanity. Call me overly optimistic. Call me whatever you want... but I can't help but imagine that down the line, readers between books will be interested enough to go through my old blogs, hoping to glean subtle hints and clues. Whether it's the Enneagram, interview, or Q&A, I find myself losing the fight to withhold spoilers. I know there are superfans of other books, shows, and movies that dig into the lore and hunt for clues. It's for them that I do these blogs.

The Dreamer book series gives the impression of simplicity. These teens are friends. Kain's the fighter, Sage is the healer, and LaTao uses magic. A potential reader might say, "Ah, I see... a tank, a healer, and a 'DPS' specialist. (damage per second) I've played enough games to know this setup." They go on adventures. "Big shock there, buddy." Sage has dreams and-- "Let me guess... the dreams come true. That's been done." Over and over the typical tropes are introduced... and it's intentional. It makes it all the more fun when each trope is turned on its head!

The books will provide a series of exciting unexpected surprises leaving each prediction the reader made in the trash. As the story progresses, my audience will learn more and more about how this world works and what has really been going on behind the scenes. After each stunning reveal, readers will be able to go back through previous books and old blogs to see tiny details and clues left in plain sight. I seriously can't wait for fans to see the twists and flip out about how they should've seen them coming. I look forward to reading fan theories and I really REALLY hope I wrote something well enough to deserve such efforts.

To those that read and react, thank you from the bottom of my heart! For those in the future... it's an honor! It is for you, my future readers, that I'm doing these blogs and will do my best to keep them coming. Thanks for your support!

I know I'm always super late to the party, its how I roll.. I take time to sit down and read your blogs, catching up on what ive missed. I kind of pause life for a moment to do so, it gets pretty hectic here. Keep up the great work and I'll be looking forward to more in the future 😊
